1. What's Capture Fox?

As put in a popular blog, Capture Fox is a nice little add-on that turns your Firefox browser into a one-click screen video recorder. The extension is available for Windows XP as well Vista. If Firefox is not your browser, Capture Fox is not for you.

2. Where can I download Capture Fox?

You can download Capture Fox from Mozilla Addons (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/8090). On every release published on Mozilla Addons, Capture Fox is updated by Firefox automatically.

3. How can I capture sound from audio card?

In Windows XP, technically speaking, you can redirect your audio output to
audio input. So that, Capture Fox can record the sound from audio card as if
it were your voice coming from the microphone.

To do this, you need to configure your Sound Recording settings.

I'm attaching a snapshot of the configuration window to which you can reach
by clicking the "Volume" button under "Sound Recording" title on Control
Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices Properties Sound-> Audio tab.

If you cannot see "Stereo Mix" part, click Options->Properties from the
toolbar menu and check Stereo Mix under the volume controls to be shown.
Then close the window and check the Select checkbox under Stereo Mix.
Important note: You can select just one at a time, Mic Volume or Stereo Mix.
So, you need to reconfigure this setting later.

There is also a video showing how to make this configuration at http://www.vimeo.com/1957675.

4.  After a period of time, the video freezes up but the sound still comes. What's this?

Are you using VideoLAN VLC video player (ver. 0.8.6)? That might be the case. Try another player like Real Player or Windows Media Player.

5. Hey, I'm a Mac and Linux (both) user. Why don't you bother to develop Mac/Linux versions?

In fac, we love both, Mac and Linux. But as the most installed OS on earth, Windows seemed as the most correct platform to develop the software for. After stabilizing the program and gather the most requested features from the users, we plan to develop versions for Mac and Linux.

6. It's still in beta, the version is 0.3.5081007. What's the roadmap?

The following features are certainly being developed (some of them are being tested, some of them are almost completed):

- Shortcut keys (integrated with the release of version 0.3.5)

- MP3 compression
- Ability to set FramePerSecond

- FLV (flash video) encoding

- Start/stop capturing on firefox blur and focus events respectively
or set a delay (in seconds) to start capturing and stop with the
firefox window focus (that type of functionality is required for
screen capturing.)
